Mr Hudson has enjoyed a fascinating life/career trajectory, growing up Benjamin Hudson McIldowie in Birmingham, then going on to study English Literature at St Anne’s College, Oxford. Fittingly, his first musical act was named Mr Hudson and the Library, whose early success found them appearing on Later With Jools Holland in 2006, then touring with Amy Winehouse the following year. Supporting Kayne West shortly after on the European leg of his Glow in the Dark Tour, it would ultimately lead to Mr Hudson going fully solo, signing to the American rapper’s GOOD Music label, and the two embarking on a regular collaborative partnership. West even produced Hudson’s 2009 debut album Straight No Chaser. Other notable collabs since have included Jay-Z, Janelle Monae and Duran Duran. But Hudson is also a proficient and highly sought after DJ, with a client list including Adidas, Hugo Boss, Versace, and even the Bill Clinton Haiti Charity.
